Review:
I have a confession to make. I havent actually listened to any of his previous solo recordings. Even though ive seen they gotten rly good critics, i assumed it followed the same path in music as what he was doing in Porcupine Tree, which i found, after listening to some of their albums 20+ times, boring, simply put.
As ive been listening to this recording, i found out, this may not be the case...
On this album he draws strong influence from the 70's prog rock w leanings towards 70's jazz/rock fusion n mix it w his own strong sound n voice. I can hear a presence from the earliest Pink Floyd records n guitar soloing from the later Gilmour. There is also Van Der Graaf Generator n early Genesis, n even some The Tangent elements in the keyboard section of the music.
Expect strong musicianship n melodies. This will record will get loads of spin before i get tired of it...
Highly Recommended
